Introduction

Take five seconds and think about one thing that you would like to spend more time on.

Okay, time’s up.  What is it?

I’ll tell you what mine is.  It’s superior capital allocation – putting money and other valuable assets to their best and highest use.  Stated differently, it’s consistently making wise decisions so that money and other assets compound at high rates over time.

Compounding helps explain the widely divergent financial outcomes we observe in everyday life.  From very poor to super rich.

While money doesn’t necessarily equal happiness, it can provide its owner with opportunities.  A person with sufficient financial means doesn’t have to work for someone else.  He can choose how to spend his time.  He can pursue personal interests in a more focused manner and help shape the world around him.  This freedom and choice can lead to greater happiness and fulfillment.   Thus, it makes sense to seek an understanding of how to successfully allocate capital.

Successful capital allocation encompasses a wide range of topics, but I think these topics fit nicely into four categories: planning, saving, investing, and spending.  The material in this website will generally fall into one of these four categories.  In addition, I plan to post helpful resources to the website as I come across them; and tools as I develop them. Again, the main focus of these items is to help all of us improve our capital allocation skills. I have also created a forum for community discussion.  Finally, there is an About page that includes short descriptions of the website and the people behind the website (just me for now).

With that, I’d just like to say:

Welcome to Capital Alligator – Better a Predator Than the Other Thing.

No, wait.  Scratch that.  What I meant to say was:

Welcome to Capital Alligator!  Where the name of the game is Finance, Investing, and Hungrier Capital Allocation.  I’m glad to have you here and I hope you feel like it’s time well spent.  There’s a lot of ground to cover, so let’s get started.
